Juli Lydell wrote the first June Swoon demos in the Blue Ridge Mountains while watching spaghetti westerns and navigating a breakup. She returned to her native state of California as a hired touring guitarist for Miserable (King Woman), writing more songs in the tour van. When tour ended, she began tracking the songs in her bedroom, incorporating influences of vintage country pop and fuzzed out alternative rock. Some months later, her first album This Town Could Be Big Enough for the Both of Us emerged as “evocative of both Modest Mouse and Nancy Sinatra” (York Calling).

When her 2020 album release tour was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, June Swoon returned to writing and soon recorded and self-produced her second album, A House With Windows Open, a folkier, more experimental work dealing with themes of spirituality and control. Upon its release, she embarked on a solo U.S. tour from Los Angeles to Nashville to Brooklyn, ending with a rodeo at the Lodge Room in Los Angeles.

While in production on a new body of work that sounds like “Lilith Fair era country,” June Swoon is establishing a following in California and beyond. June and her 4-piece band are known for their dynamic live shows, offering performances that are studded with transcendent, emotional moments and raucous audience participation. The band is anchored by June's storytelling and powerful vocals.

“Perfectly described as being for anyone who ever wished Joni Mitchell and Dinosaur Jr. had a project together.” (Grunge Bible)
“Talented vocal work full of personality with infectious guitar lines, compelling distortion and heartfelt lyricism.” (Velvety)
“Like Lana Del Rey hangs out with Grizzly Bear. Brave and big and punches you in the face.” (Josaleigh Pollett)
“The attitude that June delivers through her vocal tone is simply gorgeous. Blending an empowering message while holding onto the fatigue, the result of the two is a beautiful texture.” (Born Music)
